University Hospital Waterford is cancelling all non urgent activity from tomorrow (Wednesday) until Friday as a result of the weather.
A crisis management team meeting took place this afternoon and the decision was made in the interest of patient safety.
Outpatient clinics and elective surgeries have been deferred and patients will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
However, all emergency and urgent services including cancer care will continue to be delivered.
Urgent colonoscopies that are due to take place tomorrow will also go ahead.
The hospital says the situation will be reviewed again on Friday.
A status yellow warning is now in place in Waterford.
