Met Eireann has issued a week-long weather warning. Freezing winds from Scandinavia and Siberia, dubbed the 'Beast from the East', are expected to bring "exceptionally cold" weather to Ireland from early next week.
Ireland's weather is about to get very cold. This is in part due to Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW).

Next week will start with mainly dry conditions with some sunny spells but Met Eireann says it will feel very cold for this time of year with top temperatures of between 5C and 6C.
There will be a severe frost on Monday night the risk of wintry showers along northern and eastern coasts.
Tuesday will see the weather take a turn for the worst with wintry showers becoming widespread. By Thursday it is likely to be "exceptionally cold" and Met Eireann are warning that daytime temperatures may hover at just above freezing or even below freezing in some places.
Waterford Weather expect the warning to be upgraded in the coming days.
