Road closures for the 2023 Waterford Viking Marathon

The 11th Annual Waterford Viking Marathon takes place tomorrow, Sunday June 25th.

2,630 runners are set to descend upon the Deise for what is sure to be another memorable occasion.

A number of roads will be closed to facilitate the events.

The following roads will be closed to facilitate the 2023 Waterford Viking Marathon:

Grattan Quay from Bridge Street to Water's Gate will be closed until 9pm this evening, as will Suir Street.

The following roads will be closed until 10.30am:

The Mall, Waterford, Parnell Street, John Street from it's junction with Parnell Street to the junction with Waterside, Waterside and Catherine Street.

Bridge Street will be closed until 10am.

The L44112 from it's junction with the Old Kilmeaden Road will close from 9.30 until 11 as will the Butlerstown North Road L4041. Local access will be maintained.

The following roads will be closed until 2pm:

Lissahane from Carrolls Cross to the Greenway Crossing.

Ardeenloun Crossing from the N25 Cork Road to the Greenway Crossing.

The Whelans Bridge Road at the junction of Ballyduff East and Lacka Road to the junction of the Outer Ring Road and the Greenway from the access point at Bilberry to Carroll's Cross.

The following outbound lanes on the R680 are closed until 10am:

Parade Quay, Custom House Quay, Coal Quay, Meaghers Quay, Merchants Quay and Rice Bridge in the direction of the N25.

The Sallypark to Newrath Roundabout and from Newrath Roundabout onto roundabout number 12 at Grannagh and onto the N25 will close until 11.

Traffic disruption can be expected on the R681, the N25 at the Toll Plaza, the L4039 Bawnfune, the R680 Cork Road, the Outer Ring Road, Old Kilemaden Road and Bridge Street.

Diversions are in place and local access will be maintained.
