The Waterford Welcome Ambassadors are back to offer their tips and advice to tourists after two years.
The Welcome Ambassadors advise visitors on what to see and do, as well as on places to eat throughout Waterford. They also offer ways and means to get to the many attractions across the county.
Former Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr. Joe Kelly, welcomed the Ambassadors back.
"Our thanks must go to all the volunteers who give their time to provide the service. Their pride in promoting Waterford should be an inspiration to us all," he said.
This year marks the first that the newly established Waterford Volunteer Centre will take over the coordination of the group.
The Ambassador Programme was initiated for The Tall Ships Race in 2011 by Waterford Area Partnership and has been a positive contribution to the County since.
"To have Waterford Volunteer Centre in place is so positive for volunteering across our City and County and we are really pleased to be involved for this year. I wish all the ambassadors all the best for the summer programme in the years to come,” Catherine Power said on behalf of the Partnership.
The Waterford Welcome Ambassador Programme runs every weekend for 12 weeks in Waterford City and Tramore. It also operates in cruise ship days during the summer.
Waterford Chamber oversees the Programme in Tramore through the Tourist Information Centre.
