This year's show..
After a very difficult 18 months or so, the Panto crew is back rehearsing for what promises to be another fantastic production for the festive season. This year's show is Sleeping Beauty. It runs at Theatre Royal from December 8th to 30th. WLR returns as Waterford Panto Society's media partner. We'll have lots of on-air giveaways as well as prizes on our social platforms.
Speaking to Geoff Harris on WLR's On the Fringe, Panto Musical Director Wayne Brown said everyone's excited to be back.
I think it was funny, because we all arrived with masks on and everything else. And we were all kind of edgy, you know? And then we got into the room and literally opened the scripts, and within two minutes, it was as if the last two years didn't happen. And we were straight back in the zone again
Wayne went on to tell Geoff that the cast and crew are continuing to take precautions, while they rehearse. "We're going to have to keep the chorus separate to the principals. Everything is going to have to happen independently of each other," he said.
Wayne outlined that the cast for the 2021 production will remain the same as the cast for the 2019 production. All the old Panto favourites will be back on stage. Tony Corcoran returns as the Dame with Brian Touhy as his comedy sidekick. Brenda Giles is back as the 'Baddie,' while Aisling Giles is Princess Aurora. You'll also see Fionnan Dunphy as Roger and Adam O’Neill as the Prince. While Tobie Hickey takes on the role of King and Susan Boyce is the fairy.
