Nine Waterford businesses in the food and drink industry have made it to the finals of Blas na hEireann, the Irish Food Awards.

Dawn Meats, Waterford Ireland, Faithlegg Hotel, Irish Gourmet Butter, Glorious Sushi, Pipin Pear, Walsh's Bakehouse, Viking Irish Drinks, Slice Wood Fire Pizza, and Planté are the businesses in Waterford that were shortlisted.

The event hopes to celebrate the passionate people behind the food produced.

Blas na Eireann will take place from September 29th until October 1st in Dingle, Co. Kerry for its 15th year.

This will be the first time in two years that the event will be going ahead and organisers have promised that it will be bigger and better than ever.

"We have big plans for the return of Blas to Dingle and to our new location in the heart of the town. We're ready to see our plans come to reality very soon and to be able to celebrate our amazing finalists," Artie Clifford, Chairperson of Blas na hEireann, said.

This year will see several new additions to the event including an 'Eat Ireland in a Day' tent.  There will also be a Blas Village where finalists can showcase their products, engage with customers, and meet potential industry buyers.

Almost 3,000 products entered this year's competition with judging having taken place in June and July to narrow the finalists down.
