Waterford based social enterprise GIY is seeking to acquire 30 to 50 acres of land to create a GIY Farm.
The organisation is recognised as a thought leader in food, health and sustainability.
It's hoped the farm would be located within 20 to 30 minutes of GROW HQ in Ardkeen, and would serve as a campus for food production, education and tourism.
Speaking to WLR, founder of GIY Michael Kelly outlines what they're hoping for:
"Ideally we want to find a landowner or a farmer in the Waterford area that would be willing to partner with us. It may be a long-term lease, or a lease-to-buy arrangement that we're looking at. And we'd hope to have food production, where we'd grow and rear that food to serve in GROW HQ, but also more education, more courses, possibly even long term residential courses that you see in places like Ballymaloe."
GIY has previously collaborated with a number of partners across a range of government and corporate sectors from innocent and Meta, to national bodies such as Healthy Ireland, Bord Bia and Failte Ireland. The organisation has worked at a global level with the UN Sustainable Development Goals Advocacy Hub.
