A celebration of Art in the Gardens is being hosted by Artform at Mount Congreve Gardens in Waterford this May Bank Holiday weekend, from May 4th to 6th 2024.
On May 4th from 10 am to 5 pm, those who would like to paint or watch artists at work in the gardens can enjoy a Paint-out led by guest artists from Artform in the idyllic surroundings of the 70 acres of Mount Congreve Gardens. The guest artists will be on hand to provide constructive feedback and participating artists will have the opportunity to show and sell their works on the day in a pop-up 'exhibition on easels' with prizes. Those participating can also enjoy a picnic lunch in the gardens from The Pantry at CLIFF at Mount Congreve Gardens.
On May 5th from 10 am to 4 pm, there will be Masterclasses led by renowned artists Eamon Colman, Róisín Curé, Sinéad Lucey, and Julie Cusack. These workshops will benefit experienced artists with an opportunity to expand their practice and learn from a variety of experts.
In addition, there will be a beautiful new exhibition in the Stables Café for visitors to the gardens to enjoy. The exhibition theme is ‘Bucolica', inspired by the bucolic essence of rural life, the tranquillity of nature, and pastoral beauty, set against the enchanting backdrop of Mount Congreve House and Gardens. 'Bucolica' invites artists to delve into the serene and idyllic, while also encouraging a reflective examination of the historical and contemporary implications of humanity's relationship with the landscape.
Mount Congreve Gardens are open 7 days per week. This event will bring art into the gardens culminating with the ‘Bucolica’ exhibition which opens on Monday, May 6th at 4 pm where visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy stunning works by artists from across Ireland.
