The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the '90s sitcom that launched the career of Will Smith, is to get a re-boot in the form of a new series, simply called Bel-Air.

TV network Peacock has released the first trailer of show, which ditches the short-comedy format of its predecessor in favour of a drama series with hour-long episodes. The trailer also suggests a more serious tone.

Here's a clip of the original...

Bel-Air follows the original premise; exploring Will’s  journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. However, the new story is described as having a "reimagined vision,"  delving deeper into conflicts, emotions and biases that could not be covered within the parameters of a 30 minute sitcom.

The upcoming Bel-Air series is based on Morgan Cooper's 2019 viral fan film of the same name. Cooper is executive producing Bel-Air alongside T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson. Smith is also executive producing, along with original series creators Andy and Susan Borowitz, and original series producers Quincy Jones and Benny Medina.
