Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the seamless commissioning and handover of mechanical systems, ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with diverse teams and specialists on-site to enhance project integration.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of contract drawings and specifications to guarantee compliance.
- Foster effective communication with suppliers/subcontractors, emphasizing quality and program requirements.
- Act as a primary liaison for client technical queries, providing expert insights and solutions.
- Facilitate seamless coordination with the offsite fabrication team when required.
- Assess and validate supplier proposals to ensure technical compliance.
- Develop and submit comprehensive technical submittals for approval.
- Conduct thorough reviews of coordination drawings to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to the client's high standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality documentation.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Possess a relevant 3rd-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrate 5+ years of experience in a similar role, showcasing a track record of successful projects.
- Results-driven with excellent communication skills.
- Proven experience in technical submittals, commissioning, and handover procedures.
- Strong work ethic, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communicator with good IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Project.

Facilities Engineer
Baker Finn Recruitment is looking for a Facilities Engineer for a medical device company based in Waterford.
Key Responsibilities:
- To act as the point of contact for vendors, contractors, and sales representatives for the plant and facilities works in general
- External Vendors - Seek quotations and oversee any contract works to a standard agreed upon and approved by the company.
- Liaise with in-house cleaning contractors to ensure cleaning standards are maintained and service contract requirements met across the whole site.
- Ensure all site and grounds maintenance is completed in line with contract and site expectations
- To maintain the management and presentation of records on all facilities-related tasks/operations to meet auditing requirements for both internal/external auditors, customers, and corporate representatives as requested
- Coordinate all site facility activity in conjunction with full implementation and adherence to all EHS dept standards and technical requirements.
- Participate / Lead / Own MMCR, CAPA, PCF, NCE as requested and required to meet QA/Ops site requirements.
- Oversee all key critical plant equipment, by overseeing all third-party inspections and interventions, as well as in-house daily, weekly monthly and annual PM inspections and interventions on the following as per QCBD requirements
- All electrical systems, distribution, and transformers
- Cleanroom AHU both internal and external roof-mounted units / Humidifiers
- Coolers / Chillers / Water Supplies / Lighting / Compressed Air Systems Fire preventative equipment sprinklers extinguishers
- Site vacuum systems
- Site life safety programs
- Maintain / Oversee all canteen equipment/office equipment.
- Monitoring and maintenance of cleanrooms and associated building management systems record through the site BMS system.
- Identify noncompliance daily events and take appropriate actions when the BS system is drifting or going out of specification to ensure site cleanroom compliance are maintained for Temperature, humidity, fresh air intake and air pressure parameters as per QBMS
- Plan, co-ordinate and ensure all facilities works are compliant with required specification, regulatory requirements, quality of work and safety standards to include GMP / GDP specifications.
- Support and assist the Operations and Engineering Manager with day-to-day activities ie; Change controls NPI introductions / Production ramps / New projects etc.
- Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of facilities operations in terms of performance, cost and efficiency ie; utility usage and cost control/reduction.
- Day-to-day maintenance of the facility as required, including breakdown response and repairs to equipment.
- Environmental monitoring and management of pest control as per site QPM.
- Meet all FM Global program requirements – Impairment Notification – Hot Work
- Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
- To work agreed shift patterns as scheduled and open to change to meet plant/customer site needs
- Outside work hours are to be agreed upon when and if necessary, on a case-by-case basis as approved by site leadership
- Become proficient in Bronze Belt lean Problem-Solving Tools and standards
- Ensure collaboration and communications with all Work cell and functional leaders are maintained.
- Supports all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with GMP in all practices, recording of events and processes.
- Ensure compliance with all learnings from all GMP training events.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
Job Specification:
- A degree in Engineering or a related discipline is advantageous.
- 5 + years experience in facilities or related role essential.
- Experience of working in a medical device/pharmaceutical environment advantageous
- Senior Trades Electrical / Mechanical essential
Skills/Attributes:
- In-depth knowledge of plant systems, preferably in the medical device/pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience working with a preventative maintenance system.
- Systematic troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well on own initiative.
- Experience in compressed air, air handling, fire prevention, building management and industrial water systems.
- Ability to read P&ID's/schematics.
