Anderlecht captain Vincent Komany has rushed to the defense of opposition goalkeeper Simon Mignolet who had a flare thrown at him by Anderlecht fans during Sunday's game against Club Brugge.
The two players know each other well as they have both play on the international Belgian team and they faced off many times in the premiere league when Kompnay played for Manchester City and Mignolet for Liverpool.
The Brugge goalkeeper looked shocked when a firecracker was thrown on to the pitch in front of him as he went to take a goal kick, and he covered his face as sparks started to fly out of the flare.
Kompany quickly confronted his own fans and remonstrated towards them, letting them know he was not happy with their behaviour, before comforting his Belgian compatriot.
Many fans of the sport have applauded him for calling out this type of behaviour at matches.
