Forget the Olympics or World Championships, the Irish Universities Athletics Association's track and field championships took place at Morton Stadium in Dublin last weekend where possibly the best ever race finish took place!
In the women's 4X400m relay, UCD had a significant 30m lead going into the final leg and looked set to take gold, until both UL and CIT closed the gap on the back straight. However, it wasn't any of these 3 teams who crossed the finish line first. UCC, who were way back in 5th place going into the last leg, came 'out of the depths of hell' to win it.
Despite knowing the result, this will still be one of the best races you'll ever watch!
The heroic last leg was run and won by Phil Healy, a team-mate of Waterford's Kelly Proper on the Irish International Athletics team, who tweeted this afterwards:
What a run! What a win! And can we have a moment for the commentry: brilliant!
