Waterford Theatre Director Gary Power talks about losing his leg - Deise Today Friday October 4th

Well known in Waterford theatre and musical circles, Gary Power has had a year to remember... or to forget. On Christmas Eve last Gary had a fall in his house and broke his leg. Since then he has suffered major medical issues and ended up losing one of his legs earlier this year.

This Sunday, 6th October, a benefit concert "I am What I am" will be held for Gary in The Theatre Royal. The night stars local talent Greta Rochford, Ray Collins, Glenn Murphy, Vicki Graham, Des Manahan, Tobie Hickey, Jamie Murphy, David Flynn, Megan Cassidy, Mick Roche, Bilberry Goats, Intonations, Tony Kelly and special appearance from Carrie Crowley and Jim Nolan.

Gary spoke openly with Damien about his troubles over the last year.

Also in the first hour of the show Sinn Fein TD for Waterford David Cullinane spoke about a recent meeting with the Department of Transport regarding the future of the North Quays development.

Katherine Donnelly, Education Editor of the Irish Independent was on to talk about the Junior Certificate results which were out today.

And Damien Spoke to a representative from the AA about possible hikes in petrol and diesel prices.

In the second part of the show, the discussion about RTE programme "Room to Improve" rumbled on with Damien talking to Sue from Garth Dillon Kitchens.

Stella O Malley, a leading Irish Psychotherapist and best selling author was in for a chat. As were Des and Mona Managhan, along with local musician Martin Travis.
