A business owner in Waterford has been approached by the Waterford City and County Council to remove her advertising board, which they believe will hinder their business.
Valerie Corcoran, Owner of 'Salon 16', a beauty Salon displays a sandwich board downstairs outside her premises on Arundel Lane.
Last Friday she and a number of other businesses were handed a letter by a council representative, requesting the removal of advertising boards, pending a successful application for a license with payment.
Speaking to Maria, the business owner who believes that the Sandwich boards are "vital" to there success said:
"Online shopping has hit all of our businesses, people don't have to come into the city so we need the sandwich boards for advertising."
After carrying out advertising research by placing advertisements in the Waterford Today, Waterford Mail, Waterford News and Star or the Munster Express, she has said she found that they were getting more business from the Sandwich board.
"I am asking all the people in business with sandwich boards to stand together on this one, I think it is totally unfair.
