1. Indoor dining in July and no substantial meal rule, Varadkar says

The Government is set to scrap the €9 substantial meal requirement and the time limit on tables when outdoor hospitality resumes next month, the Tánaiste has said.

Leo Varadkar also said only table service will be allowed when outdoor dining and drinking returns on June 7th and there will no longer be any restriction on the number of households permitted to sit at one table.

Mr Varadkar outlined the Government’s plans for the sector at the Enterprise, Trade and Employment Committee on Wednesday.

2. Garda in Waterford and Kilkenny issue warning over cannabis jellies

There has been a noted increase in the seizure of cannabis jellies and sweets in Waterford & Kilkenny-Carlow Garda Divisions this year.

Kilkenny Carlow Divisional Drugs Unit seized a batch of cannabis-infused sweets during a planned search of a house in County Carlow last week, following on from an earlier similar seizure in Kilkenny.

Gardaí are warning parents to be aware of these types of sweets, which are packaged to look almost identical to known brands.

3. Garda remove large crowd after ‘party’ at Waterford GAA club

Gardaí were called to remove a large crowd who gathered at the grounds of Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA club in Waterford over the weekend.

A number of Leaving Cert students had a party on the grounds, lighting a large fire at the top of the main pitch, during the early hours of Saturday morning, according to the Dungarvan Leader and Waterford News & Star.

4. Roy Keane inducted into Premier League Hall of Fame

Former Manchester United captains Roy Keane and Eric Cantona have become the latest players to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Cork native Keane made 366 Premier League appearance across a hugely successful 12-and-a-half years.

Manchester United signed Keane from Nottingham Forest for £3.75 million, then a British transfer record, in 1993, and he went on to win seven league titles.

5. Netflix to release Sophie Toscan du Plantier documentary next month

Netflix have announced a much anticipated documentary on the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in Co Cork will be released on the streaming service on June 3oth.

Produced by Lightbox and directed by BAFTA nominee John Dower, Sophie: A Murder in West Cork will examine one of Ireland’s most high-profile murder investigations.
