1. 10 days paid sick leave to be phased in between now and 2025

Cabinet has signed off on new legislation to give all workers the right to paid sick leave. The government’s statutory sick pay scheme will be phased in over a four-year period, starting with three days per year in 2022, rising to five days payable in 2023 and seven days payable in 2024.

2. Pharmacies will start administering COVID vaccines from next week.

It's expected around one-thousand community pharmacies will begin issuing Johnson and Johnson vaccines to the remaining over-50s from next Monday. Around 350 pharmacies will be issuing Pfizer vaccines, largely in communities where the nearest vaccination centre is far away. It's expected between 250 and 270-thousand vaccines will be delivered this week.

3. Man arrested over burning of Waterford Pride flag

A man in his 40s has been arrested in relation to the alleged burning of Pride flags in Waterford city, and is due to appear at Waterford District Court on 6 July. Meanwhile this afternoon, people gathered today for the re-raising of Pride flags outside Waterford City and County Council’s buildings at the Mall, where activists, politicians and gardaí saw the flag held aloft again.
