The European Medicines Agency has found a possible link between the vaccine and rare blood clotting. It insists the benefits of the jab outweigh the risks. Meanwhile the one millionth dose of Covid-19 vaccine is due to be administered in Ireland today.

2. 20% of Irish adults planning travel in next three months

One in five Irish adults are planning to travel in the next three months despite Covid-19 restrictions, according to Finder’s Travel Index. Significantly more people are now planning to travel domestically than they were one month prior, while international travel plans have increased marginally.

3. Dublin is on the brink of relinquishing its status as a host city for Euro 2020

The FAI has informed UEFA today that it cannot guarantee spectator numbers for the Aviva Stadium by the time the rescheduled championships kick off in June, putting Dublin’s status as a host city in serious doubt.

Members of Waterford’s LGBT+ community are calling for greater services for adults in the city. It comes as a fundraiser for a so-called ‘Gay Cafe’ for Waterford has raised almost €10,000 in recent days.

5. New art project in Waterford City centre

Waterford city is showing off its creativity with the addition of seven new temporary art installations in the city centre and the Cultural Quarter. The Wish Tree project is an art installation where the wishes of a cross-section of the public have been gathered and tied around the branches of the two Wish Trees in Hanover Street.

Ballyquin Beach in Ardmore Co Waterford takes the eighth spot in the top 10 beaches in Ireland, according to The Lonely Planet. The writer described Ireland’s coastline as “a beachgoer’s paradise”.
