1. Waterford Gardai highlight concerning increase in drivers caught drink and drug driving

Gardai in Waterford say they’ve noticed a concerning increase in the numbers of people caught driving while intoxicated so far this year. They’re appealing to people to never drive under the influence of drink or drugs.

2. UHW working hard to prevent Covid-19 transmission within hospital

There has been transmission of Covid-19 within UHW but everything that can be done is being done to contain it, the General Manager has said. Grace Rothwell says the problem – which did “concern” her –  had emerged because of people only developing symptoms two or three days after admission.

3. Waterford City had the worst air quality in Ireland this week

High levels of particulate matter were detected by the Environmental Protection Agency at their station on Paddy Browne’s Road.

4. Wind farms must provide more environmental information to public

A significant High Court ruling means wind farms have greater transparency obligations to the public concerning the provision of environmental information, including about wind turbine noise.
