1. Bishop is ashamed and Taoiseach apologises - Mother and Baby

The Bishop of Waterford and Lismore Alphonsus Cullinane has said that he is “ashamed and upset” to read the findings of the report of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes. Responding to Damien Tiernan on Deise Today he acknowledged “some awful things” were done in the name of Christ. Listen back to the full interview here. Meanwhile Taoiseach Michael Martin, speaking in the Dail, said "I apologise for the profound generational wrong visited upon Irish mothers and their children".

2. INMO calls for full nationalisation of private hospitals

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) has called for emergency government intervention, including the full nationalisation of private hospitals in the State to cope with the third wave of Covid-19. At 2pm today, there were 750 people with Covid-19 being treated in hospital.

3. Audit finds Waterford Area Partnership ‘at risk of collapse’

An audit has recommended winding up a State-funded body which works with disadvantaged communities in Waterford. The Crowe Horwath report has said that Waterford Area Partnership (WAP) is “at risk of collapse” and is “not viable” due to mounting issues at the organisation.

4. Plans for Dungarvan skatepark get the green light

Young people in Dungarvan will soon be able to make use of a new skatepark in the town. Waterford Council has confirmed that the project is set to go out to tender for the design and build.

5. Tramore champion surfer honoured at Volunteer awards

Tramore surfing stalwart, Hugh O’Brien Moran will receive nationwide recognition for his dedicated work with T-Bay Surf Club this evening (Wednesday). Hugh is the Waterford winner at the virtual 2020 Federation of Irish Sport Volunteers in Sport awards.

6. Tramore native Matthew Connor rejoins Waterford FC

Waterford FC has announced the signing of Matthew Connor. Matthew rejoins the Blues having lined out for first division side Galway FC.
