1. Majority of Level 5 restrictions will remain until mid-May

Taoiseach Michael Martin has said that there will be modest easing of restrictions on April 5th with the majority of Level 5 restrictions remaining in place until mid-May. However Tanaiste Leo Varadkar says this is not down to the delay in vaccinations.

2. ‘Significant’ opposition to wind farm on Waterford-Cork border

Close to one thousand submissions have been made to An Bord Pleanála about a wind farm development along the West Waterford and East Cork border. Curns Energy Limited has applied to construct 17 turbines, each up to a maximum overall blade tip height of up to 150 metres.

3. Plans for Dungarvan Skatepark revealed

A presentation on plans for the park which will be located at Fairlane (close to the Aldi car-park in the town) was made at this week’s Dungarvan-Lismore Council Meeting, and work is expected to get underway by the late summer to early autumn.

4. Sam Bennett clings onto green jersey in Paris/Nice

Sam Bennett remains in the green points jersey after today’s fourth stage of the Paris-Nice but only just. The stage was won by Primoz Roglic who’s also the new man in yellow.

5. Waterford rated the ’10th most huggable Euopean City’

That’s according to Lifeladder.com, who revealed the findings from February’s #worldhugathon challenge. Designed to help everyone, everywhere become more connected and boost their wellbeing during the pandemic this February by sending virtual hugs around the world, the campaign’s strapline stated an ambitious objective, ‘one million hugs – one world – one month’.
