1. Fines for attempted holidaymakers to increase to €2,000

The Government is planning to increase the €500 fine for those found attempting to take a holiday abroad amid the Covid-19 pandemic to €2,000. The change would mean a couple travelling abroad on an unnecessary journey could face a €4,000 add-on bill, if stopped on the way to the airport. Meanwhile new countries are expected to be added to the mandatory hotel quarantine list.

2. WHO recommends wide use of AstraZeneca vaccine, including over 65s

Scientists advising the World Health Organisation have recommended the use of the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine in all adults, including over 65's. Meanwhile changes to close-contact testing means individuals who have had contact with Covid-19 cases may have their 14-day restriction period shortened if they are not showing symptoms.

6. Lawyer tells Judge "I'm not a cat" after Zoom filter gets stuck

A lawyer in America got a cat filter stuck on his profile as he attempted to log in to live court proceedings via Zoom on Tuesday. Texas attorney Ron Ponton is seen struggling to remove the kitten filter as Judge Roy Ferguson attempts to help him. The 69 year old later explained that he had been using someone else's computer for the live hearing. Watch the video below.
