1. Covid vaccine registration for ages 45 to 49 opens from Wednesday
People aged 45 to 49 can register for a Covid-19 vaccine this week.
Those aged 49 can register for an appointment from Wednesday. People aged 48 can register from Thursday and day-by-day it will continue on to the next age.
More than 2.1 million vaccine doses have now been administered in the Republic.
2. Five Waterford Businesses Go Nationwide
Five Waterford food and drink suppliers have won contracts to supply SuperValu and Aldi nationwide as part of their continuing commitment to encourage and support local businesses.
Coffee House Lane, Frothing Ferments and Iasc Seafood Bar are among the 57 suppliers whose products will now go on sale as part of an Aldi Special buys event kicking off on Sunday 6th June.
3. West doubles its Waterford workforce to meet Covid packaging demand
West Pharmaceuticals has doubled its Waterford workforce in the past year.
The US group, which opened its plant here in 2018, specialises in packaging for insulin for use in pen injectors but it also works on the company’s range of stoppers that are used in Covid vaccine vials, among other things.
4. Almost everyone wants to continue remote working after pandemic
More than 95 per cent of working people in Ireland want to continue with some form of remote employment once the coronavirus pandemic ends, a new survey has found.
The survey also found that employees prefer remote working more than managers and team leaders.
5. Farmers were ‘singing in the door’ of Waterford-New Ross Mart as ringside sales resume
It seems retail and the ring re-opened on the same day yesterday as marts welcomed back in-person buyers and sellers.
Yesterday Dungarvan and Waterford New Ross Mart based in Rosbercan opened their doors to buyers again.
Buyers may attend the sales ring and view stock in pens. However, this must be done by prior appointment with the livestock mart.
6. Yellow thunderstorm warning issued for Waterford for second day
Met Éireann have issued a status yellow thunderstorm warning for nine counties in the south and east of the country including Waterford.
It’s the second day in a row thunderstorm warning has been issued for the Déise.
