1. Doctor says UHW team "wiped out"

The number of patients with Covid-19 at University Hospital Waterford has fallen below 100 for the first time in almost three weeks. However a doctor at University Hospital Waterford has appealed to the Minister for Health to adopt a Zero Covid strategy saying his team are wiped out.

2. Opposition parties call for immediate decision on Leaving Cert

Following a meeting of ministers and officials yesterday evening, a number of options are still being considered by the Government and it could be another week before a decision is taken on how the exams will be handled.

4. Families struggling to get basic information about loved ones in nursing homes

Sinn Fein TD for Waterford David Cullinane says families are struggling at times to get basic information about their loved ones in nursing homes. Nursing Homes Ireland has told the health committee just 10 per cent of the first 77,000 vaccinations were given to nursing home residents and staff and say a critical window was missed.

5. Failte Ireland tourism fund and Waterford arts bursary announced

A new €55 million fund from Failte Ireland has been released to support businesses in the tourism sector. Applications open on the 11th of February and grants from between €3,750 and €200,00 are available. Click here for more details. 6. An Garda Siochana bring a smile to people faces with #JerusalemaChallenge

Members of An Garda Siochana from across the country have risen to the challenge from Swiss police to take part in the #JerusalemaChallenge which sees them take part in a dance in various locations across Ireland.
