1. Guidelines for hospitality released today
Guidelines for the hospitality sector are expected to be published by Failte Ireland today. It's thought a one hour and 45 minutes rule will return for indoor dining along with tables placed a metre apart. The CEO of the Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI) Adrian Cummins has repeated a call for all restaurants to be allowed to serve food indoors from June 2nd, the same date on which hotels will be allowed to do so.
2. Fully vaccinated people should be allowed to fly internationally without restrictions
That's according to Transport minister Eamon Ryan. It comes as EU leaders agreed to implement the European digital green certificate which means Irish holidaymakers could be permitted to head abroad from July. The pass will pave the way for summer holidays within the 27 EU countries.
3. Waterford retains Blue Flags and Green Coast Awards at 11 beaches
Waterford has retained its Blue Flag status for all five beaches awarded in 2020, and Green Coast Award status for all six beaches awarded last year. The five beaches in Waterford awarded the blue flag this year are Clonea, Counsellors’ Strand in Dunmore East, Dunmore Strand, Tramore Beach and Ardmore Beach.
4. 102 for a full tank: diesel price spike could bring misery to millions
The price of a litre of diesel could spike by as much as 50 cents by 2030, if EU plans to use international carbon markets to set pricing carry on. According to ta new study, diesel price hikes of 50c a litre, and a doubling of home heating bills, on average, could be seen in 2030 if the EU relies only on carbon markets to achieve emissions cuts in road transport and homes.
5. Calum Lyons named Hurler of the Week
Waterford defender Calum Lyons has been named Hurler of the Week by the official GAA following his display in the victory over Limerick at the weekend, which GAA.ie described as outstanding.

6. Mark Ruffalo apologies for comments regarding Israel
Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo has apologised for comments he made on social media suggesting Israel was “committing genocide” during its conflict with Hamas. The Incredible Hulk actor said the comments had been incorrect and were being used to justify anti-Semitism.
I have reflected & wanted to apologize for posts during the recent Israel/Hamas fighting that suggested Israel is committing “genocide”. It’s not accurate, it’s inflammatory, disrespectful & is being used to justify antisemitism here & abroad. Now is the time to avoid hyperbole.
