1. Level 5 restrictions confirmed

The country is set to return to Level 5 restrictions under the Government’s plan for living with Covid-19, announced earlier today. The new restrictions will take effect from Christmas Eve until January 12th. Read all the details here.

2. Hospitality to close on Christmas Eve, non-essential retail to remain open

From 3 pm on Christmas Eve restaurants and pubs that serve food will have to close, while hairdressers, barbers, beauticians, cinemas and galleries will also shut on the 24th. Non-essential retail can remain open but are asked to postpone January sales

3. Body discovered in Waterford

Gardaí in Waterford are investigating the sudden death of a woman in the Mount Suir area of Carrickphierish in Waterford city.

4. Dolphin and seal deaths in Waterford Harbour spur call for inquiry

Three common dolphins and four seals have been found dead in Waterford Harbour over the past week, according to the environmental group Coastwatch, who are now calling for an investigation.

5.Status yellow rainfall warning issued for Waterford

Heavy rain is forecast for Waterford this evening and tonight. Met Eireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Waterford, Tipperary, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

6. Virtual Christmas Swim for SVP kicks off tomorrow

The Christmas Day swim has always been a part of Waterford's Christmas tradition, however, because of Covid-19, we are doing things a bit differently.
