The recovery of the body of 37-year-old Gillian Ryan will have to continue on foot in difficult terrain. The mother of two was discovered late yesterday evening after she went missing on Sunday.
2. Objection to Bellview cheese plant rejected
An Taisce has lost its legal action against An Bord Pleanála and the State to overturn permission for a continental cheese manufacturing plant in Co Kilkenny. The High Court this morning upheld the decision to grant seven-year planning permission to Glanbia last June for a €140 million facility in Belview near the Port of Waterford.
3. Blood clots should be listed as 'very rare side effect' of J&J vaccine
The safety committee of the EU’s medicines regulator has concluded that unusual blood clots should be listed as “very rare side effects” of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine – but that the “overall benefits” of the vaccine in preventing Covid-19 outweigh the risks of side effects.
4. Waterford golfer Seamus Power tests positive for Covid-19
Seamus Power has withdrawn from the Zurich Classic of New Orleans after testing positive for COVID-19. A brief statement from the PGA Tour confirmed that the Waterford native will not take part in the event.

5. Sheedy confident that results will improve as Waterford FC travel to Dublin
Waterford FC make their first trip to Dublin of the season this evening to take on St Patrick's Athletic in the Airtricity League. Blues boss Kevin Sheedy has not had the most glittering of starts to his first season in charge with just one win in 5 games. Sheedy has called for patience and a willingness to let the team adjust to playing with each other.
6. Morrissey accuses The Simpsons of 'hurtful and racist' portrayal
The Smiths frontman is not happy after a character resembling him appeared in the latest episode of the long-running US show. In the episode entitled Panic On the Streets Of Springfield, Lisa becomes obsessed with the frontman of a band called the Snuffs, a vegan singer who becomes her imaginary friend. The character – voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch – later becomes overweight meat-eater who expresses anti-immigrant views.
