1. Housing expert from Waterford says crisis is brewing because of investment funds

A full ban on these funds buying up residential property is being considered by the Housing Minister and this has largely been triggered by the purchase of a full estate of houses in Kildare recently. Dr Rory Hearne from Tramore, is Assistant Professor of Social Policy in Maynooth University. He told Deise Today that a crisis is brewing.

2. Waterford could lose Rescue 117 service

Waterford TD Matt Shanahan is raising concerns around the future of Rescue 117 in Waterford, saying discussions are underway regarding a new national tender for that service. He says the tender conditions could jeopardise those jobs locally.

3. Ground to be broken on second Cath lab at UHW this month

The project will start on Monday May 17th and is expected to take 13 months to complete. It will be built by local contractor Tom O’Brien construction, who was appointed at the end of March.

4. Debenhams: Fear, apprehension and pigeons on the Waterford picket

Former Debenhams workers in Waterford city have a “knot in the pit of their stomach” over how their longstanding picket will end. Liquidator KPMG have began packing stock in Waterford, with standoffs having taken place at other stores around the country in recent weeks, including in Dublin and Tralee.

5. No place for Sexton in Lions squad

Warren Gatland has named his Lions Squad to take on South Africa this summer, but Ireland captain Johnny Sexton will not be on the plane. Eight Irish players did make the cut with Bundee Aki and Jack Conan the surprise selections.

6. Stranger Things season 4 trailer drops

'Stranger Things' season 4 is officially in production, having resumed filming last October after a six month hiatus. And a brand new teaser video has been released featuring Dr Martin Brenner (Mathew Modine) the co-ordinator of the child experiments which created 11's powers.
