Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has told the Dáil this evening that those with underlying conditions will start to get vaccinated from next week, after it was revealed that the HSE will miss its Covid-19 vaccine target for the second week in a row. The Dail was also told that family carers are at their “wits’ end” over the lack of priority being afforded to them in the national Covid-19 vaccination programme.

There are plans to triple the number of specialist staff working in Ireland’s eating disorder treatment centres. Waterford Minister of state for mental health Mary Butler says the government plans to open three new specialist hubs this year, hiring almost 50 staff.

Major upgrades to sites in Tramore, the Comeragh mountains and Lismore are on the cards after funding allocations from central government. €247,270 as part of the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme will be used for projects at the Mahon Falls and Owenashad River in Lismore.

Over 28 acres of prime residential land in Waterford has been sold for over 4 million euro. The land at the Paddocks off the Williamstown road in the east of the city was put on the market last October with a price tag of 3.25 million euro.

Danny Healy-Rae has called for a halt to criticism of the horse trainer Gordon Elliott over the picture of him sitting on a dead horse — saying the reaction has gone too far. A horse is not a human at the end of the day, the Kerry TD said, and it was dead.
