1. Challenge to meet vaccine targets

The head of the HSE Paul Reid says it'll be "extremely challenging" to meet the target of vaccinating all over 70s against Covid by the end of March. Back-up plans are being worked on after new advice to give people in that age group the Pfizer or Moderna jab, rather than AstraZeneca's.

2. Former Waterford Crystal site being looked at for WIT expansion

The Tánaiste has confirmed that the old Waterford Crystal site is being looked at as part of the planned expansion of WIT. The site in Kilbarry is vacant since 2009. It was bought by Waterford developer Noel Frisby, his company Ibrook successfully applied for planning permission to refurbish the site in 2019.

3. Stalker jailed over threat to rape co-worker

A man who became obsessed with a colleague he hardly knew has been jailed for five years after he staged an attempted robbery with the intention of raping her at her home in Youghal, Co Cork.

4. Waterford may see snowfall similar to the ‘Beast from the East’ next week

Met Éireann is warning of a risk of a significant snow event next week. Siberian air arriving over Ireland could bring ‘Beast from the East’ levels of snow.

5. Waterford Treasures wins ‘gold standard’ accreditation

Waterford Treasures has been awarded Full Accreditation status in the Heritage Council Museum Standards Programme for Ireland. “This programme is the gold standard for Irish museums, taking approximately five years to achieve full accreditation.” Read more here.

6. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl to appear on Late Late Show

The line up for this week's Late Late Show has been announced, with Lynsey Bennett and Dave Grohl among Ryan Tubridy's guests for Friday night. Earlier this week, Ms Bennet settled a High Court action regarding the alleged misinterpretation of her smear test as part of the CervicalCheck screening programme. While Dave Grohl made short video from his home in the US to promote his appearance on the show.
