1. Two significant possible changes in vaccine rollout
Two significant changes could be on way in the vaccine rollout. The HSE is considering reducing the weeks between doses of the AstraZeneca jab from 12 to 8, while a large number of people under the age of 50 may only need one dose of a jab.
2. Waterford publican calls for earlier indoor opening
A Waterford city publican has claimed that banning pubs re-opening for indoors until July is petty and vindictive – and doesn’t respect the professionalism of publicans. Martin Colbert of Norris’ Bar off Barrack Street, said the perception is pubs could become crowded and dangerous but he believes indoor drinking would be in a safe and controlled manner by professionals.
3. Leaving Certs will not miss CAO offers due to delayed results, says Harris
Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris has said this year’s Leaving Certificate students will not miss out on CAO offers despite the delay in the date for results. The CAO and universities have all agreed to accommodate the later timeline as results will not now be issued until September 3rd.
4. Republic of Ireland face Andorra in friendly
Stephen Kenny's side are in Andorra for a friendly match this evening. The Boys in Green are heavy favourites for the game and will be looking for a win ahead of their remaining World Cup qualifiers later this year. Its half time and the score is 0-0.
5. Waterford sand artist creates artwork for Failte Ireland campaign
Waterford environmental artist Sean Corcoran has joined forces with Failte Ireland to celebrate the re-opening of the tourism and hospitality sectors. He created a unique piece of sand artwork, by hand, on Killmurrin Cove in Co Waterford. The map of Ireland with symbolic iconography was outlined with bamboo sticks. Click here to watch the video.
6. Win for Mount Sion Choir in Belarus
Mount Sion choir have won first place in the junior category of the International Music Festival in Belarus. A video made by the young choir was submitted and went up against 1,370 other entries from 8 countries. Announcing the win on Twitter they joked that they should be considered as a Eurovision entry next year and we think that is not a bad idea #MtSionForEurovision
