1. WIT vaccination centre opened today

The mass vaccination Centre at the W.I.T. Arena in Carriganore, Co Waterford opened to the general public today. The centre has been in use vaccinating those in medically vulnerable groups. Today the rollout to those in the 65-69 age group begins. Meanwhile speaking in the Dáil today, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said there will be no recommendation on the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine until next week.

2. Child Rescue Ireland alert raised after girl (14) goes missing from Co. Louth

Officers are seriously concerned for the girl’s welfare and are appealing for the public’s help locating her. Svetlana Murphy went missing from her home in Coast Road, Blackrock, Co. Louth at 4pm on Monday.

3. Waterford F.C. deny they are looking for a new manager

Waterford FC has denied rumours that management team Kevin Sheedy and Mike Newell have left the club. It is understood that a row this morning at training led to the duo walking off the training ground. However, a spokesperson for the club has categorically denied that they have resigned.

4. Waterford’s first pet crematorium opens in Tramore

‘Resting Pets’ is a family-run business owned by the Coady family and was inspired by the death of their own beloved Great Dane dog, Mason, last year. The new facility, based in the Ballykinsella area, is the sixth pet crematorium in Ireland.

5. Second gorse fire in two days in Waterford

Fire crews are battling a large gorse fire in Waterford this evening. The blaze broke out shortly after lunchtime in Coolbunnia, Cheekpoint. Yesterday there were traffic disruptions on the Tramore road due to a fire along the river bank.

6. All Ireland rematch on May 23 for Waterford hurlers

The Waterford hurlers will have three home games in Division 1A of the NHL as Liam Cahill’s side will welcome Westmeath, Limerick and Tipperary to Walsh Park. The Shannonsiders will visit the city venue on May 23 in a repeat of the 2020 All Ireland final. See the full fixture list here.
