1. Technological University of the South East should be centred in Waterford - Tanaiste

Leo Varadkar was responding to Waterford Sinn Fein TD David Cullinane in the Dail when he said he is strongly of the view that the college be centred in Waterford. However he said it would be a shame if the university got caught up in a row about where the President’s office is.

2. Cabinet sub-committee discusses re-opening of schools

The cabinet sub-committee on COVID is meeting now to discuss a date for the re-opening of schools. It's expected students will return to classrooms from March 1st on a phased basis. Meanwhile on this morning’s Deise Today, Damien spoke to Waterford Leaving Cert students who are happy with what’s proposed and the fact that there is, finally, some clarity for students.

3. Carrolls Cross road improvement works to proceed ‘at last’

One and a quarter million euro is to be spent on a traffic calming scheme at a collision blackspot on the main Waterford to Cork Road. Nearby residents have been calling for the layout of the road to be changed for years following a series of crashes, one fatal.

4. Jack O’Donoghue signs two-year contract extension with Munster

The recently turned 27-year-old became the first Waterford player to captain the province in the professional era when leading the side out against Cardiff Blues in February 2018. He has represented Ireland on two occasions.

5. Camile Thai to open outlet in Waterford

Camile Thai has announced it will create 220 new Irish jobs as it opens new restaurants in Ireland and the UK. The takeaway chain is to open 15 new locations , including one in Waterford.

6. Dolly Parton on Late Late Show

Queen of country Dolly Parton is to appear on The Late Late Show tomorrow night, alongside Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees, with whom she has recorded a new album. Earlier today she tweeted that she has rejected the proposal of a statue of her in her home state, saying it's not "appropriate at this time."
