1. Vaccine numbers will drop in July
The number of vaccine doses being administered each week is going to drop by about 100,000 in July. That's according to the HSE boss, who says it's going to take more time to administer vaccinate the 30 to 39 age group. Meanwhile health officials have confirmed 373 new Covid-19 cases in the Republic of Ireland.
2. Jobs on the ‘Horizon’ for Waterford as biotech company announces new facility
Biotech company Horizon Therapeutics is to establish a manufacturing facility in Waterford which will employ around 90 people. The new global biotech manufacturing operation will produce drug product for Horizon’s rare, autoimmune and severe inflammatory disease portfolio.
3. ‘Straight Pride’ posters appear in Waterford, days after second vandalism of Pride flags
Just days after the second destruction of the pride flags in Waterford, posters advocating ‘Straight Pride’ have begun to appear in the city. The poster shows a man and a woman with a caption saying “it’s worked for thousands of years, and you can make babies”.
4. Demand for Dunmore East properties “through the roof” since pandemic, says auctioneer
Waterford auctioneer Keith Palmer of Palmer Auctioneers in Waterford city, says he is “not surprised” by figures showing Dunmore East has seen a 51.2% rise in property prices since the pandemic began. That’s according to the Daft.ie Coastal Report 2021 which shows it now costs more to buy a property close to the sea.
5. Champion horse trainer Henry de Bromhead gets freedom of Waterford
The sun shone in Tramore today as Henry De Bromhead was joined by his family for the Freedom Of Waterford ceremony. Speaking after accepting the honor Henry said he felt very lucky to be from Waterford and accepted the award on behalf of everyone in the Knockeen yard "human and equine".
