1. 3.1m in harbour and marine funding for Waterford
€3.1m in harbour and marine funding was announced for Waterford by the Minister for the Marine, Charlie McConalogue this morning. €2.42 million of the funding will be allocated to Dunmore East Port in addition to €680,000 under the Local Authority Scheme for marine amenities.
2. Holohan urges vaccinated to ‘get back out there’
The chief medical officer has urged those who have been vaccinated to “get back out there” once restrictions begin to ease from May 10th. Dr Tony Holohan said the Covid-19 vaccines have given people most at risk of the virus an opportunity to regain many freedoms that were taken in the last year.
3. Investigation underway into fire at Brideview United in Tallow
Gardaí are investigating a fire in the Townparks East area of Tallow, County Waterford. The incident took place at the Brideview United’s Leonard Fraser Park grounds at around 3:15am. Emergency services attended the scene which is currently preserved for technical examination.
4. Tired Blues no match for Hoops
Waterford FC were no match for a Shamrock Rovers team who are now unbeaten in their last 31 league games. Played on Monday in a bitterly cold Tallaght Stadium the hoops put three past Waterford to win 3-0
5. Rain warning in effect in Waterford with spot flooding expected
A status yellow weather warning has been issued with unseasonably wet and windy conditions forecast for 11 counties including Waterford, Wexford and Cork. The warning from Met Éireann, issued on Sunday, is now in place and set to last until 10pm on Monday night.
6. Sinead O Connor tweets about her time in Waterford
Responding to a tweet by Glenn Sheridan, singer Sinead O Connor was reminiscing about her time in Waterford, her stint at Newtown School and one of her teachers in particular. The singer, who is due to release her autobiography in June, remembers Joe Falvey who taught her at Newtown School, and her first gig in T&H Doolans.

Sorry, spelling mistake, T & H Doolans, not Dolan's. First recording session was at aged 14 in Eammon Andrews Studios, Dublin with Intuanua. Joe Falvey set up the second and drove us to cork where we recorded all night and got back on time for school. Nicely naughty man.
