1. Government will decide this week on Level 5 exit plan
Taoiseach Michael Martin has said that the Level 5 exit plan will be decided and made public later this week, "either Thursday of Friday". He would not confirm what that will entail but said what the Irish people had been doing "was working". Meanwhile infectious diseases consultant Dr Clíona Ní Cheallaigh has advised that pubs and restaurants should not open while levels of community transmission of Covid-19 remain high.
2. Strategy for vaccine roll-out by early December
A strategy for the roll-out of a coronavirus vaccine is expected to be delivered to Government in early December. Taoiseach Micheál Martin met with the head of the National Vaccines Taskforce, Professor Brian MacCraith today, who hopes to deliver the strategy by December 11th.
3. Several near misses with e-scooters in Waterford City
Electric scooters have become more popular in recent years with the Road Safety Authority urging parents not to buy them for their children this Christmas. Fianna Fail’s Eamon Quinlan says there have been several near misses in Waterford.
4. New units preparing to open at City Square Shopping Centre
The fit out for the new Vero Moda store in the City Square shopping centre began this morning. It’s one of two new additions to the shopping centre, with a new cafe called the Pantry also moving into the food court in the space formerly occupied by Ramen.
5. Waterford hurlers face Kilkenny in All Ireland Semi Final
Former All-Ireland winner with Cork Tomás Mulcahy says he's been impressed with Waterford's attitude and intensity under new manager Liam Cahill. The senior hurlers can look forward to a last-four clash with Kilkenny in Croke Park on Saturday following their powerful win over Clare at the weekend.
