1. Mental health will influence decision on restrictions - Taoiseach

The Taoiseach has said the government will consider the effect of the vaccine and people’s mental well-being when it considers easing Covid-19 restrictions next week.

2. Carrick school closed over virus concerns

The Presentation primary school, which has over 300 pupils, told parents this morning that it is suspending its classes with immediate effect.

3. Over 2,500 deer culled in Waterford

According to figures obtained by The Irish Deer Commission by the NPWS, 44,000 deer are culled each year nationally and in Co Waterford over 2,500 were culled in 2020. West Waterford was named as a ‘blackspot’ in 2015.

4. Nursing home residents delighted with return to indoor visits

5. Funding to enhance section of the Waterford Greenway

Over 370 thousand euro in government funding has been granted under the Outdoor Recreation Scheme to upgrade the section between Clonea and Ballinacourty.

6. William Shatner turns 90!

Canadian born actor William Shatner, best known for playing Captain Kirk in Star Trek, turns 90 today. The actor is very active on social media and more recently won two Primetime Emmy Awards for his portrayal of legendary lawyer Denny Crane, in The Practice, and in spinoff show Boston Legal.
