1. Guidance to be issued regarding legality of outdoor drinking
The Garda Commissioner is to issue guidance to members regarding the legal issues around outdoor drinking in temporary seating areas. Earlier gardai had warned that alcohol licences are not valid for areas outside pubs and restaurants. Justice Minister Heather Humphreys said gardaí would “apply discretion” when it comes to outdoor dining.

3. Funding for four Waterford schools to make walking and cycling to school safer
Four Waterford schools are set to receive funding to improve their walking and cycling infrastructure. They are Garranbane N.S, Glor na Mara in Tramore, Our Lady of Mercy in Stradbally and the Educate Together in Carrickphierish. They are among 170 primary and post-primary schools nationwide chosen as part of the government’s Safe Routes to School programme.
4. Equality Minister says ‘Ireland stands with the LGBTI+ community in Waterford’
Roderic O’Gorman TD, Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth has today praised the people of Waterford for their support and solidarity in the wake of recent anti-LGBTI+ incidents in the city. Minister O’Gorman was speaking as he visited the city to meet with the local Pride Committee and the Mayor of Waterford, Cllr Damien Geoghegan, and present them with a Pride flag.
5. Sam Bennett out of Tour De France with injury
Carrick-On-Suir cyclist Sam Bennett will not be able to defend his green jersey in this year's Tour De France because of an ongoing injury to his right knee, with his team, Deceuninck-QuickStep, opting instead for veteran Mark Cavendish. Bennett said this afternoon “Needless to say, I’m very disappointed to not be able to defend my green jersey at this year’s Tour de France.”
6. Love Island contestants revealed
Hit reality TV show Love Island returns to our screens next Monday, June 28th, on ITV2. The original line up of contestants was revealed today with the first ever disabled contestant. Hugo Hammond, a 24 year old PE teacher from Hampshire, was born with a clubfoot. Meet the contestants below:
