1. Pfizer vaccine gets approval

Europe’s medicines regulator had approved the use of the Covid-19 vaccine jointly developed by US company Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech, putting Europe on course to start inoculations within a week.

2. Cabinet sub-committee meet this evening to discuss tighter restrictions

Its believed that one option being considered by the cabinet is the shutting of all restaurants from Christmas Eve.

3. Dungarvan to Tallow evening Local Link cancelled following ‘unacceptable’ scenes

Local link bus services in West Waterford have been curtailed due to the refusal of some passengers on Saturday night to comply with covid regulations. The company said the behaviour of some passengers on the 11.30pm service from Dungarvan to Tallow was ‘unacceptable’.

4. Public warned over Revenue scam

Gardaí are appealing to people to be vigilant in relation to a phone scam where the callers are purporting to be calling in relation to a refund from Revenue. Contact is made from a landline number with an 051 Waterford prefix.

5. Ireland’s only dedicated Irish silver museum opens in Waterford

After three years of work behind the scenes, the Silver Museum has opened its doors at the Deanery in Waterford city centre. Run as part of the Museum of Treasures, it won’t be officially opened until restrictions allow.

6. Dungarvan man discusses his son Adam Kings appearance on Late Late Toy Show

After an emotional few months, we all needed the lift that The Late Late Toy Show gave us in late November. One of the big highlights was the appearance of little Adam King from Cork, a space fanatic who had virtual hugs for us all. He has since been contacted by astronaut Chris Hadfield.
