1. No new Covid deaths for first time in two months

No new deaths due to Covid-19 have been recorded today, the first time in two months. Meanwhile, the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has confirmed the locations of 37 mass vaccination centres across Ireland, with at least one in every county. While vaccines are currently being administered in healthcare settings and GP surgeries, many people will be offered their vaccination in these centres after self-registering online.

2. €16.3 million for road infrastructure in Waterford

The main features of the funding includes €260 million for road pavement strengthening works, €72 million for preventative surface dressing work, €84 million for maintenance and strengthening works to be used on roads selected at the discretion of the local authority, and €24 million for strategic regional and local roads projects.

3. Calls for Minister Harris to meet with Waterford Councillors about WIT

Independent Councillor Mary Roche says we need commitment instead of promises. She wants an invite to be extended to Minister Simon Harris as well as the President of WIT Willie Donnelly.

4. Tramore’s Jim Goodwin agrees new contract with St Mirren

5. Donegal parish runs out of takeaway blessed ashes

A Donegal priest has come up with an idea to ensure people do not miss Ash Wednesday due to Covid-19 restrictions, offering takeaway ashes instead. However, demand has been very high.
