1. High Court Decides Not to Extradite Ian Bailey to France

The High Court ruled earlier today that Ian Bailey cannot be extradited to France where he faces a 25 year sentence for the murder of Sophie Toscan Du Plantier. He was found guilty of her murder in a Paris court in his absence.

2.Council CEO says he has no power to investigate mayor.

Sinn Fein in Waterford are calling on Mayor Damien Geoghegan to step aside from his role until the controversy relating to an alleged breach of Covid-19 regulations within Dungarvan GAA has been resolved. The party has written to the CEO of Waterford City and County Council, who says he has no power to investigate what role, if any, was played by Mayor Geoghegan.

3. Waterford projects get rejuvenation funding

The old Railway Station in Tramore is one of 5 Waterford projects to get funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. Passage East, Touraneena, Dungarvan and Ring also benefitted.

4. New Ferrybank Park Opens

The long awaited Ferrybank Neighbourhood Park opened earlier today. The development is a collaboration between Kilkenny and Waterford Council.

5. End of an Era for Waterford Fuel Company

Walsh’s Coal and Solid Fuel Merchants in St. John’s Park, which goes back to 1957 has closed its doors for the last time. Damien Tiernan from Deise Today paid them a visit.

6. The Wanted's Tom Parker Diagnosed with Inoperable Brain Tumour

Tom Parker from the band The Wanted, told Ok Magazine that he has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Parker and his pregnant wife Kelsey shared a tweet in June revealing that their second child is a boy.
