Walsh Park is set for a large facelift as plans of it's redevelopment have been revealed and when finished it will be able to accomodate between 15 and 16 thousand people.
Speaking to Eamon Keane on Déise Today, County Board Secretary Pat Flynn outlined plans of proposed development which is set to to be presented to GAA clubs across Waterford next week.
He told Eamon that the current stand on Slievekeale Road will be upgraded, with new tip up bucket seating and a brand new press area. The Keane's Road terrace stand will see a big change as it is expected to be covered and provide wheelchair accommodation.
The Northern Bank facing Griffiths Place will be replaced with an uncovered seating stand and the bank facing Ard Na Greine will see some seating being installed and the removal of the current bank.
According to the Mr Flynn the redevelopment is also set to include four new state of the art dressing rooms, office space and shops:
"We will be demolishing the current dressing rooms and offices to allow for circulation around there and news shops and toilet facilities, there will be a new building encumbrancing 4 news large modern dressing rooms as well as medical rooms, referee rooms and offices."
The development is also expected to see parking for team coaches inside the stadium to take them off the roads and there will be a traffic management plan in conjunction with Waterford GAA and local Gardaí being introduced for match days.
