170 applications have so far been made for enrollment at the school for September 2018 and have been described as "unprecedented."
The school which normally enrols 120 students each year accepted 150 students in September, but nevertheless, this of 170 would still see some students being left without a place.
The issue was recently raised in the Seanad recently by Senator Paudie Coffey. Highlighting the urgent need for additional accommodation to facilitate all students who wish to begin their secondary school education at this school in September.
Minister Pat Breen was speaking on behalf of Minister for Education and Skill Richard Bruton and replied to Senator Coffey's concerns stating that an "indicative analysis" shows that the school authority is enrolling students outside its school planning area.
