Minister of State for Traning and skills and Waterford TD John Halligan spoke to Eamon this morning on his position on the upcoming abortion referendum.

"There're complexity and very different reasons when a woman becomes pregnant as to why she can't go through the pregnancy, it may very be circumstances within her family, we do not know whats happening to people."

I had a case where this girl was pregnant, she had two kids and the two kids were being violently been beaten by the husband and she has been violently beaten, she said she was determined not to bring another child into the world and she was living a life of misery.

Minister Halligan said the girl ended up travelling to Liverpool on her own.

"She became a refugee, we made her a refugee."

Referring to a woman who was severely raped, who he brought to meet Enda Kenny he said:

"I would appeal to men here that if it was your wife, mother or daughter[who was raped], what would you say to them would you make them stay in Ireland and go through the pregnancy, you would not.

The Waterford Minster is holding a meeting a public pro-choice meeting in the Tower Hotel, Thursday evening.
