Proposed plans for the North Quays is set to include an extension of the Waterford Greenway.

Ahead of the oral hearing which is set to take place next week, Senator Paudie Coffey said the oral hearing will give the objectors the opportunity to lay the reasons why they are objecting to the development in a very transparent way.

One objector Pat Moran from Cheekpoint is objecting concerning the passing of marine traffic into Waterford City.

Speaking to Eamon ahead of the Oral hearing Senator Coffey said: "I have been engaged with the council over the last number of weeks and months as well, they are working proactively to address the concerns of the people that have concerns."

The second objection for business owner Eddie Lynch from Passage East is in relation to a commerical site on the edge of the North Quays known as the former Esso fuel station.

My Lynch is raising the point that Waterford City and County Council are trying to Compulsory acquire his property (CPO) at a fraction of what its worth.

"I honestly believe as an individual that is very closely involved with the North Quays that we are just going through the planning process here and I feel it's not going to seriously hinge on the progress that's been made.
