With Good Friday upon us, one local business is keeping up the tradition of fish only today!
Keith Daniels of Chingon Badass Burritos at the Phoenix Market in Waterford has devised a special fish taco for the day that's in it.
Daniel is not a stranger to all things fishy as in a past life he worked at a seafood restaurant in London.
But on serving the fish on Good Friday, he says it's more about tradition than religion for him.
"We're in the modern world now and some people are fading away from religion and we're not necessarily religious - on a personal level I believe in all religions once you do good.
"Here in Ireland, we have a tradition when it comes to food on Good Friday, and eating fish on this day is a tradition which we've had for centuries so I've decided to do a fish taco," Keith said.
Keith explains what people can expect if they decide to wander within their 5km for a takeaway taco.
"We'll be using Coley a member of the cod family and we'll be doing a bit of spicy batter and some slaw to add a bit of a crunch to it in a 4inch corn tortilla.
"They'll get the taste of America, Mexico, and Ireland - a fusion of all of those different cultures," he said.
To avoid disappointment, come early to the takeaway van. At 12pm there will be a limited amount of fish tacos at Chingon Badass Burritos at the Phoenix Market Yard on Waterford City's O'Connell Street.
