Minister of State John Halligan has offered his assistance to the family of missing John Power from Waterford.

The father of the 20-year-old has appealed for information on his son's last known whereabouts.

John, who had travelled to Maastricht, Holland, for work purposes, told his friends on the morning of June 9th that he was moving to Berlin. He hasn't been heard of since.

According to his father Michael, there is a record of him purchasing a one-way ticket to Berlin on his PayPal account.

Speaking to Eamon Keane on 'Déise Today', Michael Power said that he was critical of the police efforts in Holland and Germany to find his son.

"We reached out to six or seven different parties and four have confirmed that yes, he had left  Maastricht."

During the weekend, John's father reached out to Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to get in touch with the Dutch ambassador.

"John has a status of missing person, on the Interpol report. He is on the yellow listing as a missing person. It needs to be elevated; that's why over the weekend I made a direct plea to Leo Varadkar to get involved with his counterparts."
