It was revealed overnight that an Oireachtas Golf Society event at the Station house hotel in Clifden in Galway on Wednesday night was attended by 80 people including government ministers, senators, judges and members of the media. It is reported that the event breached health guidelines and Covid-19 restrictions and it comes just one day after the government introduced revised restrictions on numbers at gatherings. Agriculture minister Dara Calleary has resigned, as has Leas Cathaoirleach of the Seanad Jerry Buttimer. The event was attended by Waterford Fine Gael senator John Cummins.

Damien gets an angry reaction from members of the public. Tony Wall from Dungarvan tells Damien that he is furious as his daughters wedding had to be reduced to 50 guests following the introduction of strict guidelines from the government.

Walter Lacey, a former councillor, says he is furious as they had to bury their father during lockdown with some family members not able to attend.

Maria Keane tells Damien that she is raging as she runs a small business, and they were only allowed to have immediate family at her fathers funeral.

Listeners Edwina from Dungarvan and Sandra Winkle also give their reaction.

Damien also speaks to Sinn Fein TD David Cullinanae and Green Party TD Marc O Cathasaigh, as well as Michael Clifford, political correspondent with the Irish Examiner.

In the second part of the show Damien gets reaction from Darren Holden from The High Kings who says the arts industry has been decimated by lockdown.

Also Marie Cummins tells Damien that she cant visit her husband who is in hospital.

Ian Power from spunout.ie says he believes it is wrong to assume that young people are not adhering to guidelines and are not taking Covid-19 seriously.

And Nigel Kelly looks ahead to a weekend of sport.
