On Monday's version of 'Déise Today', Damien was speaking to Jamie Phelan, sister of Jade Phelan, who has recently done her leaving cert.

However, Jade had to miss two of her exams in June due to Gastroenteritis, which is classed as "inflammation of the stomach and intestines, typically resulting from bacterial toxins or viral infection and causing vomiting and diarrhoea."

Jade's family has been battling to be able to let Jade resit her exams due to what they see as Jade not being able to take part in her exams something which Jame says, "This could stop her starting college in September, she is hoping to go to WIT to do marketing".

Damien and Jamie were then joined on the line by Katherine Donnelly, education editor with 'The Irish Independent' to explain the certain circumstances which permit a re-sit of a leaving cert exam. However, illness does not fall under this category, something which Jade and Jamie want to see changed.

Also on Monday’s version of ‘Déise Today’, Damien was speaking to John and Clodagh Dawson, parents of Waterford’s Robin Dawson, who had a very promising performance at the Irish Open last weekend.

The 23-year-old Waterford player, just nine months into his professional career, was originally due to be playing a Challenge Tour event this week – with a purse of €200,000 – until a potential career-changing ‘phone call, as he prepared to take a flight from Rome to Senica, informed him of his late call-up into the €6 million tournaments that is part of the elite Rolex Series on the European Tour.

He holed a 15 footer for birdie on the 18th green in Friday’s second round to ensure surviving the cut and then followed up with a brilliant bogey-free 64 in the rain in Saturday’s third round, jumping up 50 places to tied-third by the time he finished.

The 23-year-old may have dropped 13 places on the leaderboard on Sunday, but still claimed a top-30 finish and a cheque for approximately €65,000

His parents talk about their pride for him and how he started off golfing at a young age, while Derry talks about how he always felt that Robin had that special talent and is hoping for more big things to come from him.
