On Monday's Déise Today, Damien was talking to Declan Power. Declan is a leading Irish security/ defence analyst who was on with Damien to discuss the state of Lisa Smith and his view on what should happen with her.
Lisa is currently in the Al- Hawl Syrian refugee camp where she told newspapers over the weekend on how depression and suicidal thoughts led her to Islam conversion and the Islamic state. She told papers of her desire to return home with her two-year-old daughter Ruqayya and said of her willingness to do whatever the Irish state want to do with her tests wise to let her return to Ireland.
Declan says that in his view, just because Lisa Smith is of interest right now, "that doesn't mean that we should forget that there is plenty of other Irish people around that are in the same situation as Mrs's Smith, these people also need our help and attention".
Declan says that the more significant threat to Ireland won't be Lisa herself as he believes that she is not a risk. He says there is no evidence that she was involved in any cell itself. "It is more that people might be aggravated with the fact that she was allowed to be let back into the country".
