On Thursday's 'Déise Today', Damien was talking to Joe Conway, Independent city and county councillor on the Grand Hotel in Tramore.
Joe is worried about the ongoing fall into decline that is happening to the hotel. He wants something to be done about it as he sees it as a shame that the hotel is falling into such disrepair.
However, he is worried about as he calls it, "unusual activity" that has been spotted around the area recently which has led to some concerns. He is concerned that the site might be made into a direct provisions centre which he does not agree with.
Joe Conway continued that there has been no concrete evidence to say that this will happen but he says that " he is raising an issue that needs to be raised". There are already two direct provision centres in the town with about 160 people in these. He feels that direct provision should "have the curtains pulled down".
He feels that if another direct provision centre is provided he feels that "it would bring down the morale of the town and closing down the economic drive of the town forever".
